  Description: For years, AHHC of NC has published the Partners In Quality Care newsletter for in-home aides. This popular publication includes an informative newsletter, post-test, answer key and certificate. It is designed for one hour of educational credit that includes: 1. Review of Objectives; 2. Reading of educational material from the Partners in Care Newsletter; and, 3. Satisfactory completion of a test. The monthly newsletter serves as an adjunct to satisfy your CMS requirement within the Medicare Conditions of Participation, and the newsletter topics are timely, relevant to home care and can help enrich your in-home aides’ knowledge base.

  2027 is set to be a year of changes in Home Health.  This webinar will provide a detail review of the 2027 Proposed Rule in Home Health. Any changes that are set to be implemented for 2027 will be reviewed with best practices for implementation.

  Melinda A. Gaboury, with more than 35 years in home care, has over 24 years of executive speaking and educating experience, including extensive day to day interaction with home care and hospice professionals. She routinely conducts Home Care and Hospice Reimbursement Workshops and speaks at state association meetings throughout the country. Melinda has profound experience in Medicare PDGM training, billing, collections, case-mix calculations, chart reviews and due diligence. UPIC, RA, ADR & TPE appeals with all Medicare MACs have become the forefront of Melinda’s current impact on the industry. She is currently serving as Chair of the Alliance/HHFMA Advisory Board and Work Group and is serving on the board of the Home Care Association of Florida and the Tennessee Association for Home Care. Melinda is also the author of the Home Health OASIS Guide to OASIS-E2 and Home Health Billing Answers, 2025.

  Meet the Speaker

  Melinda A. Gaboury, COS-C, is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare Provider Solutions. With more than 30 years in home care, has over 22 years of executive speaking and educating experience, including extensive day-to-day interaction with home care and hospice professionals. She routinely conducts home care and hospice reimbursement workshops and speaks at state association meetings throughout the country. Melinda has extensive experience in Medicare Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) training, billing, collections, case-mix calculations, chart reviews, and due diligence. Medicare appeals (UPIC, RA, ADR, and TPE) with all the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) have become the forefront of Melinda’s current impact on the industry. She is currently serving as the Chair of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) Home Care and Hospice Financial Managers Association (HHFMA) Advisory Board and Work Group, Treasurer of the Home Care Association of Florida Board of Directors and serves on the Tennessee Association for Home Care Board.   The OIG now says that payments to vendors of referral software violate the federal anti-kickback statute. Hospitals’ discharge planners/case managers have used these types of software for many years to make referrals. Now what? Why do these payments violate the anti-kickback statute? Are there alternatives? If so, what are they? What should providers do about the contracts they currently have with vendors? Should they be terminated? Restructured? If so, how? What if hospitals insist on continuing to use the software and vendors require payments? What should providers do then? Register for this teleconference to get all the latest on this topic. Extensive handouts will be provided and there will be plenty of time for questions.

  
  

  About the Speaker
  Elizabeth Hogue is an attorney in private practice with extensive experience in health care. Prior to becoming an attorney, she was employed as a personnel manager by a Blue Cross-Blue Shield Plan. She studied at the University of Maryland School of Law, concentrating in health law, and gained considerable clinical experience, course work, and employment experience in this area. Following her admission to the Bar, she developed an active practice in health law. She represents clients all over the country. Her clients are professional associations, managed care providers, and institutional health care providers; including hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, durable medical equipment companies, and hospices. Ms. Hogue gives numerous presentations each year on health-related topics. Her articles are regularly included in trade association publications and other journals. She is a Fellow of the American Health Law Association.

  Angela Huff, RN, Senior Manager, Forvis Mazars, Springfield, MO

  With over 35 years of experience as a registered nurse, Angela has spent nearly 25 years in executive leadership in home health and hospice operations as well as software development in the post-acute space. In addition, she has global experience in the community care space that includes the United Kingdom, Finland, Canada, and Australia.  Angela performs operations improvement assessments and compliance-focused reviews of home health and hospice documentation, including audits and appeals related to the OIG and program integrity contractors as well as compliance risk assessments related to mergers and acquisitions.

  She is actively involved in the educational and advocacy activities the Alliance for Care at Home and is a member of the HHFMA’s Work Group Innovation, and Women in Leadership Committees. Angela has been a presenter at former NAHC and NHPCO conferences and the now Alliance conferences, as well as other industry national and state organizations and has been published in industry publications. She serves on industry advisory and state association boards across the industry.  Before entering the post-acute industry, she served in acute care management positions and was a Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse and a Certified Registered Nurse Infusionist.

  M. Aaron Little, Managing Director, Forvis Mazars, Springfield, MO

  Aaron has more than 20 years of experience with the firm and oversees the operations of Forvis Mazars’ healthcare billing and revenue cycle services, a special team that manages the billing and revenue cycle operations for more than 100 home care, hospice, and senior living organizations throughout the nation. He routinely performs revenue and accounts receivable recovery services, billing operations efficiency and compliance assessments, client training, and other billing services. He frequently consults with providers and legal counsel on billing and operations compliance matters, including assisting providers with compliance audits required by the Office of Inspector General and program integrity contractors. Aaron also performs general financial and operational consulting services for home care and hospice organizations, including operations reviews, benchmarking, and cost report preparation.

  Nationally recognized for his expertise in home care and hospice billing and operations, he serves on the Home Care & Hospice Financial Managers Association (HHFMA) Advisory Board and Workgroup. He was the initial chair of the HHFMA’s Young Professionals Committee and is currently chair of its Business Analytics Committee. He has previously served on the Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) Corporate Advisory Committee, an ad-hoc committee of the VNAA board of directors, and the Research Institute for Home Care’s Quality & Innovation Work Group. Aaron routinely presents educational seminars for the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC), HHFMA, National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, and numerous other regional and state industry organizations. He is involved in supporting the Council of State Home Care Associations, as well as the advocacy efforts of numerous state home care and hospice associations. Aaron has been nationally recognized as an industry thought leader on Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM). He participated in developing the data analytics and financial and operations content for NAHC’s 2019 PDGM National Summits and its 2020 PDGM Virtual Summits. Aaron has authored FORsights articles and is routinely quoted in national home care periodicals, including those published by Eli Research and DecisionHealth.

  Aaron is a member of HHFMA, American Institute of CPAs, and Missouri Society of CPAs. He also is a member of Class 30 of Leadership Springfield and was selected by the Springfield Business Journal as a member of its 2015 class of “Forty Under 40,” which is awarded by an independent panel of judges to up-and-coming community professionals under age 40.
