OPENING AN AGENCY IN KANSAS

HOME HEALTH

If you are interested in operating a home health agency in Kansas, licensure is required. There are two types of licensure in Kansas depending on the services provided:

Non-Medical Supportive Care Services is a type of Home Health Agency licensure covering chore and/or companionship services, as well as Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).

Skilled Services is a type of Home Health Agency licensure that includes Skilled Services, Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), and Non-Medical Supportive Care Services.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) website provides more detail on each type of license as well as all necessary steps and required documentation to become a licensed home health agency in Kansas.

Hospice

  • While state licensure is not required for hospices in Kansas, a hospice must be certified to participate in Medicare program to hold itself out to the public as hospice or licensed hospice.
