Planning Ahead for Safety
Description
When working in the community setting there are many things we do not have control over, however, planning ahead for safety can help keep staff safe. The focus of this training is helping community-based professionals to be better prepared when providing services in a community setting. We will be discussing planning for visits in the community, safety tips for community-based visits, personal safety, and verbal de-escalation skills.

Rhonda Stubbs
CFS Behavioral Health Specialist Program Manager, Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, Lawrence, KS Rhonda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development & Crime and Delinquency Studies from The University of Kansas. She has a background in corrections, working in a minimum-security facility and community corrections, including house arrest, work release and Director of The Community Service Work Program for Douglas County and The City of Lawrence. For the last 29 years, she has worked at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center -- 17 years as a Child & Family Case Manager and 12 years as a Manager for Community Based Services. Rhonda has been a certified trainer for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and CPR First Aid for over 18 years, and for more than 21 years, she has been a trainer for the State of Kansas providing training for new CMHC Case Managers. Rhonda is passionate about teaching others valuable skills and family systems work.

Continuing Education
Kansas Home Care & Hospice Association is approved as a provider of CNE by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 1.2 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0287-0314.
Other disciplines will need to apply independently – a certificate of attendance for 1.0 CE hours will be provided.
