Parkinson’s 101: “Wait-there’s so much more”.  A Clinician’s Perspective

Description 

This session will include an overview of Parkinson’s and the increasing prevalence in our population. The symptoms and progression along with interventions of medication and exercise will be covered. Practical tips in assisting those with Parkinson’s to move better to safely live in their homes will be demonstrated along with large amplitude and high effort movements audience participation will be encouraged.  The session will conclude with some of the many resources for the client, family and support staff.

Suzie Craig, PT 

PWR! Moves Certified and trained in LSVT Big, LMH Health Therapy & Wellness, Lawrence, KS

Suzie Craig, PT received a BS in Physical Therapy in 1990 from Rockhurst University.

She has been a therapist for 30 years working with all diagnosis and has been with LMH in the outpatient setting the last 20 years. She has been a neuro therapist in the last 15 years with emphasis on the treatment of those with Parkinson’s and other movement disorders. She has been LSVT certified and now currently has a PWR! Moves certification. She has just recently started her 6th year teaching fitness classes specific to those with Parkinson’s.  In her spare time, she loves biking the loop, hiking, boating and reading.


Continuing Education

Kansas Home Care & Hospice Association is approved as a provider of CNE by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. This course offering is approved for 2.2 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure.  Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number:  LT0287-0314. 


Other disciplines will need to apply independently – a certificate of attendance for 1.8 CE hours will be provided.
