The Aide’s Role in Confidentiality and HIPAA

Thursday, March 9, 2017
Noon to 1:00 p.m. CST

Description: This webinar will focus on assisting your Home Health Aides in understanding HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines. This workshop will offer practical tips to ensure that the para-professional adheres to the required privacy standards. Also included: the impact of social media such as Facebook, My Space, YouTube and cell phones, text messages, etc.

Presenter: We are pleased to announce that our instructor for this teleconference is Michelle Davis White, MSN, RN. Michelle has worked in home care for many years during which time she has implemented various In-Home Aide programs and offered direct aide supervision. She is currently the Director for HomeCare Providers, a division of Alamance Regional Medical Center. She is a Nurse Aide instructor for Alamance Community College and serves on the Alamance Community College Nursing Assistant Advisory Committee. Michelle is also part-time faculty at UNC-CH School of Nursing in the Public Health Division.

Convenience:  Enjoy the convenience and cost-efficiency of a webinar – watch the speaker’s slide presentation on the internet while listening by telephone or through your computer’s microphone and speakers (VoIP).  There is no limit to the number of attendees from your agency who may participate at your site using one phone line and a computer with internet access.

Confirmation:  Prior to the webinar, a GoToWebinar link will be e-mailed to you.  You will need to register through this link to attend the webinar. You will be sent a confirmation which will include a join link to access the webinar, a dial-in number and an access code to listen in via telephone. You will also be sent any pertinent handouts, if available, an evaluation and certificate. The webinar will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST, 12:00 to 1:00 pm CST.

Registration: The registration deadline is March 8, 2017.  Registrations may not be shared between agencies – the agency’s registration covers the access of only one phone line/computer access to the webinar. Multiple site participation for your agency will require a separate registration fee for each connection. Please note: if your agency has sent in 1 registration but 3 people from your agency register through the GTW link, your agency will be invoiced for the additional 2 registrations. The handouts will be emailed to you to the email address you provide. Please feel free to provide an additional email address as a backup.

Non-Members:  $190 per webinar access

Cancellations:  Fees will be refunded only if written cancellation is received one week prior to the workshop and no refunds after the webinar link is sent to your agency.
