    Hospice Billing

    3-Part Webinar Series

    January 26, February 7, and February 28, 2017

    10:30 am –  Noon CST **

    Be among the elite group of billers that are current on all Hospice Medicare billing regulations.  Billing is a very critical part of hospice reimbursement.  This webinar series will lay a concrete foundation for hospice billers, as well as, any hospice staff that need to more effectively understand the Medicare regulations.  The series will include Medicare verifications with screen shots, field by field on Notice of Election and claim forms and sequential billing requirements.  Billing requirements to deal with late NOEs will be covered.  We will review the regulations for billing all hospice services (SN, HHA, MSW and therapy), face-to-face encounters and additionally home health providing care while a patient is on service with hospice.  The program will conclude with many of the day-to-day scenarios that billers face such as: transfers, discharge, and revocation.  Information regarding Aggregate CAP Self Report and Palliative Care billing will be an emphasis.  If you are part of revenue cycle management in hospice this webinar series is a must!

    Objectives:

    Part 1 – January 26:

    • List the eligibility requirements for admitting patient to Hospice under Medicare Benefit.
    • Define Benefit Periods and Certification Requirements.
    • Detail criteria for billing Hospice Notice of Election.
    • Demonstrate claim requirements for Late Notice of Election.

    Part 2 – February 7:

    • Recap the distinct levels of care and specifics of billing them.
    • Detail criteria for line item billing Hospice Claims to Medicare including physician billing.
    • Review detail calculations for Routine Home Care and Service Intensity Add-On 

    Part 3 – February 28:

    • Detail FacetoFace Requirements.
    • Review Hospice Aggregate CAP Self Reporting Requirement.
    • Discuss Palliative Care Reimbursement
    • Recap HIS documentation impact on Reimbursement

    Faculty:  Melinda Gaboury, is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare Provider Solutions, Inc., an organization out of Nashville, TN that provides financial, reimbursement, clinical and operation services to the home health and hospice industries.  With more than 25 years of experience in Medicare Home Health, she is a presenter at both the state and national levels, and is interviewed frequently for national home health publications.  Ms. Gaboury is also the author of "Home Health Pocket Guide to OASIS C2: A Reference Guide for Field Staff."  Ms. Gaboury has no conflict of interest in regard to this program.

    Continuing Education:  The presenters and program planners have no conflict of interest in regard to this webinar.  RNs and LPNs must participate in the entire presentation in order for contact hours to be awarded.  To apply for nursing contact hours, please mail an evaluation form and a $10 processing fee for each individual requesting hours.  Additionally, send in a completed sign-in sheet, listing the individuals at your facility that participated and noting those requesting contact hours. 

    Individuals requesting contact hours will receive a certificate of contact hours earned.  Please make sure that you enter the Contact Person’s name in the Registration Form.  All correspondence and site registration information will be sent to this person.  No commercial support has been provided for this program.

    Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  (OBN-001-91) (OH -157, 4/1/2019).

    Confirmation: A confirmation will be sent via email to verify site registration, as will the handouts, Internet link and 800 number for entering the webinar, and instructions for participation.  If your Contact Person does not receive the E-mail confirmation two (2) business days prior to the webinar, please contact our office to verify your status.

    Registration Fee per site/phone connection: Registration fees are for one (1) phone connection.  SHARING OF REGISTRATION OR FEES WITH OTHER AGENCIES AND/OR INDIVIDUALS IS PROHIBITED.  The live webinar includes the opportunity to ask questions of the presenter.  If you desire to purchase both the live webinar and the recording, pay the registration fee and an additional $30.

    The Aide’s Role in Confidentiality and HIPAA

    Description: This webinar will focus on assisting your Home Health Aides in understanding HIPAA and confidentiality guidelines. This workshop will offer practical tips to ensure that the para-professional adheres to the required privacy standards. Also included: the impact of social media such as Facebook, My Space, YouTube and cell phones, text messages, etc.

    Presenter: We are pleased to announce that our instructor for this teleconference is Michelle Davis White, MSN, RN. Michelle has worked in home care for many years during which time she has implemented various In-Home Aide programs and offered direct aide supervision. She is currently the Director for HomeCare Providers, a division of Alamance Regional Medical Center. She is a Nurse Aide instructor for Alamance Community College and serves on the Alamance Community College Nursing Assistant Advisory Committee. Michelle is also part-time faculty at UNC-CH School of Nursing in the Public Health Division.

    Convenience:  Enjoy the convenience and cost-efficiency of a webinar – watch the speaker’s slide presentation on the internet while listening by telephone or through your computer’s microphone and speakers (VoIP).  There is no limit to the number of attendees from your agency who may participate at your site using one phone line and a computer with internet access. 

    Confirmation:  Prior to the webinar, a GoToWebinar link will be e-mailed to you.  You will need to register through this link to attend the webinar. You will be sent a confirmation which will include a join link to access the webinar, a dial-in number and an access code to listen in via telephone. You will also be sent any pertinent handouts, if available, an evaluation and certificate. The webinar will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST, 12:00 to 1:00 pm CST.

    Registration: The registration deadline is March 8, 2017.  Registrations may not be shared between agencies – the agency’s registration covers the access of only one phone line/computer access to the webinar. Multiple site participation for your agency will require a separate registration fee for each connection. Please note: if your agency has sent in 1 registration but 3 people from your agency register through the GTW link, your agency will be invoiced for the additional 2 registrations. The handouts will be emailed to you to the email address you provide. Please feel free to provide an additional email address as a backup. 

    Registration Fees:

    KHCA Members:  $95 per webinar access
    Non-Members:  $190 per webinar access


    Cancellations:  Fees will be refunded only if written cancellation is received one week prior to the workshop and no refunds after the webinar link is sent to your agency. In the event of a written cancellation, KHCA will retain, or charge, $25 of the initial registration fee, per registrant, to cover administrative overhead.

    Webinar Series Overview:  Home Health’s first set of NEW Conditions of Participation are HERE and effective on July 13, 2017.  That is NOT a lot of time to prepare as there are many new items and changes.  Our four-part series will first talk about the key changes and principles of the CoPs. Then we will go over in detail each of the Conditions and methods to comply.

    The surveyors will be held by CMS to perform surveys using these new CoPs, so you will not want to wait until implementation time to learn what it means for your agency!

    Speaker: Sharon M. Litwin, RN, BSHS, MHA, HCS-D, Founder and Senior Managing Partner, 5 Star Consultants, LLC 

    Sharon Litwin, founder and senior managing partner of 5 Star Consultants, a national consulting and coding firm specializing in homecare and hospice services since 2003.  Sharon was also an ACHC surveyor until December 2013, and a former CHAP surveyor, performing Medicare deemed surveys for ten years.

    In her consulting firm, Sharon assists homecare and hospice agencies in providing quality, meeting regulations, ICD-10 coding, OASIS, increasing outcomes and Star Ratings, and having continued survey readiness.  Sharon and her staff perform ICD-10 coding and OASIS reviews, QAPI, clinical record reviews, mock surveys and help agencies across the country stay in compliance.  Sharon is a regular speaker to education companies, state and national associations and publications.  

    Target Audience:  All clinical managers, administrators, and directors.  Field staff encouraged to participate as well.

    CEUs:  Kansas Home Care Association is approved as a provider of CNE by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. Each course offering is approved independently for 1.5 contact hours applicable for APRN, RN, or LPN relicensure. Kansas State Board of Nursing provider number: LT0287-314.  APRNs, RNs and LPNs must participate in the entire presentation in order for contact hours to be awarded – partial credit will not be available.  To apply for nursing contact hours, within one week following webinar participation, a completed sign-in sheet and evaluations from each individual must be returned to KHCA.  Certificates will then be issued by e-mail.
